Upper Barrakka Gardens
The Upper Barrakka Gardens offer the best view of the city, centred and overlooking Grand Harbour at a much higher level. The garden was the gift of an 18th-century knight. The Anglican Garrison Church partly intrudes upon it, while the garden is built on top of a demi-bastion. The Grand Harbour side of the gardens is surrounded by a wrought-iron fence. The view of the harbour from this vantage point is magnificent, and many people spend hours taking in the scenery.
An arcade on the same side gives this area the feeling of being within a balcony. A number of statues, monuments and plaques fill the gardens, and a small fountain full of water-lilies and gold fish is located at the center of the garden.

Saluting Battery
The Saluting Battery has recently been carefully restored by leading heritage trust Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna. The battery forms part of the city’s old fortifications, the buliding of which started in 1566, just one year after The Great Siege. It occupies one of the most strategic positions in the Grand Harbour and at noon each day, the Heritage Trust brings the site’s history alive with its firing of the midday gun display and interpretation. The line up of historic cannon can be fired upon request, adding a special touch to your event.

Lower Barrakka Garden
Overlooking the entire grand harbour and the view of the three (3) cities also known as Cottonera, the open air lower barrakka gardens are a location like no other. The foliage does not only embrace this venue, but it also gives plenty of ideas when it comes to backgrounds and foregrounds. The lower barrakka over looks The Siege Bell, Victoria Gate, St Barbara’s Bastions, and Valletta’s narrow streets just to mention a few!
